Benjamin Lewis of The One Health Company to speak at 2017 Veterinary Innovation Summit
Benjamin Lewis, COO and Co-founder of The One Health Company, will be joining the veterinary world’s most promising innovators this weekend as a keynote speaker at the Veterinary Innovation Summit in College Station, Texas.
Committed to fostering ingenuity, the North American Veterinary Community (NAVC) has teamed up with Texas A&M University to showcase the latest perspectives and technologies in veterinary healthcare. The Summit’s goal is to promote collaboration among veterinary and non-veterinary entrepreneurs as they offer keynote speakers an opportunity to discuss how their creativity is changing the future of veterinary medicine.
In his speech, Lewis will discuss how The One Health Company recruits dogs suffering from cancer for advanced treatment and research, just like in human trials. In doing so, pets benefit from the best cancer therapies and follow-up care available, at no cost to pet parents.
“We can then create versions of these treatments for people and use what we learned from dogs to develop cancer cures,” he explained, “both for our two and four legged friends alike.”
In its first year, The One Health Company has already built a trial site network of 109 veterinary hospitals and looks to expand the reach of translational medicine, creating new revenue opportunities for veterinarians.
Lewis founded The One Health Company last year under the principles of One Health, a global initiative designed to unite medical professionals from all disciplines. His vision to work across disciplines illustrates the type of imagination that the Veterinary Innovation Summit is trying to showcase, making him one of the most encouraging keynote speakers to be featured.
Other Summit speakers include Jon Ayers, Chairman and CEO of IDEXX, and Brock Weatherup, CEO and Co-founder of PetCoach (recently acquired by Petco). In addition to his work revolutionizing the pet health care experience with PetCoach, Weatherup is an investor and friend of The One Health Company.
The One Health Company is: (1) financed in part by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to BioAdvance; (2) supported by the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern PA, an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development funded by the Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority; and, (3) a partner of the University City Science Center.
